Team Building Activity - Banana Republic

So what is this about?

Banana Republic is a table based negotiation skills exercise.  Your group (10-24) is divided into 8 key political factions within the fictional country, Banana Republic.  Your aim is to obtain as much of the available foreign aid as possible during each of 7 years in the life of Banana Republic.  You will work with other factions to offer proposals and deals to your President, ‘El Perfecto’ who allocates the aid each year according to which factions can satisfy his many and varied needs and wants.  The faction with the most money is the winner, but there are many surprises, twists and turns.

And how is this Real and Relevant?

Banana Republic will force your team to commit to a Values Based Strategy which they will follow for the duration of the exercise. For this to occur, the team first need to agree on a course of action.

Throughout the 7 years of Banana Republic your teams Values will be tested, as will the strength of the team as individuals are tempted by quick gain.

The relationships formed along the way will either come back to help or hinder you. What will your game plan be?
