  1. Setting Expectations – if we do not know where we are going, we may never know how lost we are!
  2. Living as the Example – when you say the thing, you had better back this up by doing the thing. Respect can be won and lost at this point.
  3. Taking Responsibility – regardless of who may be to blame, when you are leading you are the person the team and the situation need to take responsibility for the outcome. What will you do?
  4. Encouraging Others – most people are comfortable to place self limitations on themselves about themselves, encourage people in ways that they can see that they can achieve more than what they currently believe they can.
  5. Involving Others – when you have people performing at differing levels, why not involve the lower performers with those performing at a higher level. These people may never reach the heights of their higher achievers however any increase in performance they can make is a net gain to your organisation.
